Under 47 O.S. 12-609(A), except on actual trail rides outside public roads, every motorcycle must have two rearview mirrors with a reflection surface of at least 3 inches, a windshield or operator eyewear meeting ANSI Z87.1 or a face shield, a speedometer, a fender over each wheel, a horn and a muffler. Under (B), riders under 18 must wear a crash helmet meeting 49 CFR 571.218.
Uninsured and Underinsured Drivers
Under 36 O.S. 3636(A) through (C), a policy on a motor vehicle registered or principally garaged in Oklahoma must include uninsured and hit-and-run coverage, and an uninsured motor vehicle includes an insured vehicle whose liability limits are less than the claim. Under (E), there is no coverage while the insured occupies a vehicle owned by, or furnished or available for the regular use of, the named insured, a resident spouse or a resident relative, if that vehicle is not insured.
A City or State Vehicle
Under 51 O.S. 156(B), except as provided in subsection H, a claim against the state or a political subdivision must be presented within one year of the loss or it is forever barred. Under 51 O.S. 157, suit may follow only after denial, a claim not approved in full within 90 days is deemed denied, and the action must be started within 180 days after denial.
